Honky-Tonk Girl: A Crime Novel ReviewThe 1950s were the Golden Age for pulp paperbacks, and many of those books were great. However, a lot of them were not very good. They lacked an exciting plot and/or compelling characters. Honky Tonk Girl by Charles Beckman Jr. is a very pleasant surprise. It's a gritty story of a band whose musicians are being killed off one by one. The leader is the central character and is well-drawn in three dimensions. Meanwhile, the top dog in town wants him gone and has enlisted the help of local law enforcement.
