Tina Turner is a woman for all seasons. But it was the life she was forced to live by and with her ex husband Ike that was truly shameful. No woman deserves that kind of subjection, mistreatment--that kind of life! But thank God she was and is a strong woman. She never gave up and, rightly so, rose to fame after she closed the doors on her ever so destructive and tumultuous relationship/marriage
I TINA, tells the Tina Tuner (Born as Anna Mae Bullock) story from birth to individual fame. The crux of the story is her abusive relationship with her ex husband Ike Turner and how she found the strength to drag herself out of the almost endless cycle of battery to freedom. Once freed, she stood on her feet, made a life for herself and family and rose to much deserved fame. She is now that great Ms. Tina Turner as we know her. Many who never heard of or read her story would be amazed to know what this woman of strength went through and somehow survived!
Tina's recount of her life with Ike was impressive. I see a woman of strength and good virtues, who at one point of her life was rendered helpless but not hopeless; a woman of good values, kind and considerate heart, unselfish. I enjoyed her candor, her sweet modesty, sincerity and of course the great sense of humor, even in telling the ugly tales of the past.
Some parts of the story are `hard' to read because of the vivid recollection of the battery that took place on poor Tina's body. I nevertheless recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good and sincere story from the heart and especially to women who have been battered or are going through a battering or abusive relationship. I trust you find the courage to leave immediately!
