The Northern Borough: A History Of The Bronx Reviewexcellent history of the Bronx. Explains the origin of place names such as" gun hill road" and" throggs neck", amongst many. Very thorough in scope and gives a vision of the early Bronx as quite a beautiful area. Also delves into the history of contentious modern issues, such as slavery; political divisions within the area; as well as the factionalization during the Revolutionary war. It is well written by and large. Could probably have used a good editorial hand to improve some of the sentence structure but none if that distracts from the overall book. I highly recommend this book to any current or past Bronx resident.The Northern Borough: A History Of The Bronx Overview
